Are you trying hoping to celebrate Mother’s Day this year, but can’t get out to celebrate like you would like to?
Since we’re still struggling with COVID-19, Mother’s Day this year will be a little different than the rest. We’re all having to think of different ways to still enjoy life and have things be as much like normal as we possibly can. Thing is, we have to work to remain positive and not let this whole social distancing situation get us down! There are SO many ways that you can still celebrate your mom, even if you won’t be able to visit her due to the social distancing rules that are currently in place.
Make A Video
This can be so much fun! If you have kids, get them involved and make a cute family video! This is something that is really simple and can be fun to put together, and only takes a few minutes to send. Creating a video to tell your mom how much you appreciate her and what you appreciate about her would just make her day!
Ready to make bedtime with your baby a success?
Our For The Love of Sleep bedtime routine checklist will show you exactly what steps to take to quickly begin creating a simple bedtime routine to help your baby settle down quicker at night for a better night's sleep!
If you’d rather not make a video to send, there is always the option to do one live and schedule a video chat. You can even do dinner over the screen! If you have siblings, it would make this even more fun to do this all together since everyone could be invited!
Spa Day & Chat With Mom
Have a video chat with you and mom and just have a moment of girl talk. While you’re chatting it up with mom, have each of you pamper yourself as you would if you were together! You could have manicures, pedicures and face masks! My mom and I stay on the phone for quite a bit of time anyway, so this would just make the call even more interesting. If you live with mom and are social distancing together, this could be fun because you could take a moment to pamper her! If you’d rather just put in a special request to your spouse for this to be your gift, have dad and the kids help you out with your mani, pedi, and face mask (if you can trust them, ?).
Would mom like to get out of the house and spend time outdoors for a bit? You could create a scavenger hunt and lead mom to her gifts! This can be done right in her yard, just stop by and hide a few things and send her a text with the clues to where she can find everything! Once she has gathered everything, have her send you a photo to show that she’s all finished. This would make a great memory down the road!
If you have kids, have them help you make mom a special dinner that you can deliver to her home. If making dinner seems like a bit too much, you could always order take out and bring that to her doorstep! If you’d rather do something other than dinner, you could maybe even spend time baking something that you know she’ll love!
Help Mom Out
What’s something that mom has been wanting to do since forever, but just hasn’t gotten the chance to do yet? I’m sure there is something! Think of that one thing that you could do to help out mom and see if you could surprise her with it! Does she want a garden? Does she need flowers planted? What other things have you heard her talk about but realized that she still doesn’t have?
Game Night or Movie Night
If you and mom live together, have game night or movie night with her! If you don’t live with mom, you can still host a virtual game night! One game that would be fun to play is seeing how well mom knows you and how well you know her by answering questions about each other. This can be a lot of fun! Make it interesting!
Give Her Peace & Quiet
Some moms just appreciate the little things! A little peace and quiet goes a long way. You may feel like mom has already had enough time to herself with the quarantine, but if you happen to be a dad trying to think of something to do for your significant other, this may be it! Especially if she has been running behind the kids since this quarantine began! She could probably use time to herself and have quiet time to read a book, relax, do yoga, listen to music, watch her favorite TV shows without interruption, etc. If you think this will be hard on you, just remember that Father’s Day is coming up, ha!
If you are a mom reading this and this is something you’d appreciate, let him know that this is one of the things you’re hoping to receive this year!
Most of the time a mother’s expectations aren’t very high. She will appreciate anything you do for her. Just stepping up to take the lead and having her sit down for a change can make all the difference. It’s just one day. Do whatever she asks, because you know the next day, things will be right back to normal!
